Tammi Reiss has only been on the job for two months, but the new URI women's head coach has hit the ground running. Below is an excerpt of an interview with the new coach conducted this week. For the full story, pick up the Friday edition of the Narragansett Times.
On her recruiting pitch
"What was is no longer going to be. This is what it's going to be and this is why. This is who you'll be doing it with. I didn't think it would be super-easy, but it hasn't been a hard selling point.”
On the receptiveness of that pitch
“We've signed four great kids so far, that are incredible players. I've had a lot of unofficial visits happen. We're getting kids on campus and we're in their top few schools, top-five schools. Can't complain with that.”
On the biggest transition since becoming a head coach
"Every different department – marketing, strength and conditioning, academics – you're the final decision. So many different people need to communicate with you on a daily basis. You can't ever be off, or blend into the woodwork. You always have to be ready to be on the ball and answer questions.”
