NORTH KINGSTOWN – After a ruling was made by the former Rhode Island Education Commissioner, the North Kingstown School Committee on Tuesday discussed the district’s policy regarding funding for field trips. The commissioner’s ruling stated that neither students or parents could be required to contribute a fee or be compelled to fundraise for field trips, leaving school districts around the state to figure out new ways of collecting funds.

North Kingstown Superintendent Philip Auger explained that former commissioner Ken Wagner made the ruling near the end of his tenure.
