WAKEFIELD -- Stedman's Bike Shop owner Jim Walsh confirmed rumors on Wednesday morning that he has purchased retail space next door. The purchase of the former auto part store went through about two weeks ago, according to Walsh.

His current space, at the corner of Main and Columbia Streets, does a steady stream of business. The shop, window displays and sidewalk are constantly filled with bikes.

"We're outgrowing our space here. You can see how jammed up it's getting in there," he said, gesturing to the back of the shop filled with employees and bikes. "We're waiting until Bob's out to look at the space, but we are going to open it up."

The space next door, formally County Auto Supply, will offer Stedman's much needed space when it comes to servicing and storage needs. The hope is to remove some of the boarded up space in the front where more glass window space remains underneath.

"If nothing else it will be some more excellent window space displays," Walsh said.
