SOUTH KINGSTOWN – News of South Kingstown High School Principal Robert Mezzanotte's resignation came as a shock to many on Tuesday morning, after having served four years in his current position.

Mezzanotte, whose resignation will take effect Aug. 1, will be headed North to take over as principal of Lincoln High School. The same morning he informed interim Superintendent Bob Hicks of his decision to pursue another professional opportunity, Mezzanotte also shared his news and thanks with the families of current high school students.

"From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank you all for your support and commitment to the continued excellence of our high school," Mezzanotte wrote to them. "Over the past four years, it has been a true honor to work in such a supportive and engaged community. I have considered it a privilege to lead such an outstanding school, with so many exceptional students, educators and families."

"South Kingstown will always have a special place in my heart, and I will never forget the many wonderful relationships I have forged over the years," he added.
