WEST WARWICK – East Greenwich’s track teams get split up for the outdoor class meets, and both finished in the middle of their respective packs during Saturday’s simultaneous and spread out class competitions.

After finishing fourth in the Southern Division with 47 points and a 1-8 dual meet record, EG’s boys’ outdoor track and field team tied Moses Brown for fourth in Saturday’s Class C meet at Exeter-West Greenwich with 37 points.  The girls’ team, promoted to Class B by complex RIIL formulas after winning the indoor Class C title and Sullivan Division, were fourth in the Southern Division and ended the Outdoor Class B meet tied for sixth with Juanita Sanchez and Lincoln at 27 points.

Senior Emma MacDonald was third in the 3,000-meter run at 10:58.23.  Junior Kate Butziger took fourth in the 100-meter dash at 12.98 and also placed ninth in the long jump at 15-1.5.

Junior Bryn Shunney was sixth in the 800-meter run at 2:27.86.  Sophomore Rachel Distefano was 10th at 2:36.68.

Sophomore Jessica Martin placed eighth in the 1,500-meter run at 5:08.38.

In the discus, Allison Trapani took third at 104-3, and she also took eighth in the shot put at 27-2.25.  Julia Hallworth placed  eighth at 74-9.

Junior Brenda McKinny was third in the javelin at 105-9.

Butziger, senior Caroline Reilly, freshman Kendall Stearns, and junior Laura Leigh Vetters were fifth in the 4x100-meter relay at 55.55 in a close race where SK won at 51.76. Distefano, Shunney, Martin, and sophomore Tea Burnett-Testa were fifth in the 4x400 at 4:29.67.

Junior Colin Heaney took sixth in the 100-meter dash at 11.71 and eighth in the 200-meter dash at 24.18.

In the 1,500-meter run, sophomore Jack Lombardi took third at 4:25.69.  Junior Codey Therault was fifth at 4:30.49.

Senior Ravi Somvanshi took third in the 3,000-meter run at 9:30.36.  Therault also took fifth in the 3,000 at 4:30.49.

In the 300-meter hurdles, sophomore Andrew Mega was first with a 42.94.

Senior Devin Thomas was fourth in the long jump at 19-8.5.  Heaney was eighth at 19-0.

Heaney, Mega, freshman Matt Schambers, and Thomas were third in the 4x100-meter relay at 45.56.  Sophomore Luke Muoio, Therault, Mega, and sophomore Jack Lombardi took sixth in the 4x400 at 3:48.96.
