Ocean State Chamber Orchestra Dances into Autumn 

with Music by Mozart, Britten, Shostakovich & Still

3:00 pm at URI Fine Arts Recital Hall, Kingston                                                                                                       

The first performance of the 2019-2020 season by the Ocean State Chamber Orchestra will be lead by Conductor Ann Danis, and the program on October 6, 2019 will include: Divertimento No. 1, K 136 in D Major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Simple Symphony by Benjamin Britten, Spanish Dance by Dmitri Shostakovich, Danzas de Panama by William Grant Still.

Music Director and Conductor, Ann Danis- Professor of Music and Director of Orchestral Activities at the University of Rhode Island founded the Ocean State Chamber Orchestra in 1990. The ensemble performed three to four times annually through 2006 and re-formed in 2018 with new performances based at the University of Rhode Island Fine Arts Center in Kingston. The Chamber Orchestra continues its commitment to innovative programming, partnering among a network of musicians, arts and non-arts organizations, encouraging both established performers and emerging artists, and serving as a vehicle for area composers to gain recognition and performance opportunities.

 

Returning original members of OSCO plus new faces, many of who graduated of the University of Rhode Island and work professionally throughout the region will present exciting performances throughout the upcoming year.
