Republican candidate Doreen Costa was all smiles at Sonoma Pub in North Kingstown following her victory over Rep. Ken Carter Tuesday night.

NORTH KINGSTOWN – The town of North Kingstown has seen an upset in the run for Representative in Dist. 31, with Doreen Costa (R) beating out 18-year veteran and Chairperson of the Veterans’ Affairs House Committee on Finance Rep. Kenneth Carter (D).
Locals were glued to the results screen at Duffy’s Tavern in North Kingstown as the numbers coming in showed a very close race, with some voting districts showing a difference of only five to 10 votes.
