RICHMOND -- On Oct. 24 at 5:30 p.m., police arrested Paul Massey, 21, of East Providence, for second-degree child molestation/sexual assault of a 12-year-old Richmond girl.
The arrests stems from a complaint made to the police department on Saturday, Oct. 23. An investigation revealed that Massey had met a Richmond girl through the website My Yearbook. This led to communication between Massey and the girl he reportedly believed was 14 years old.
Police said their exchanges led to his visiting the victim in Richmond during July 2010. Following his arraignment and release on $10,000 personal recognizance, Massey was ordered to have no contact with the victim, who was actually 12 years old, or anyone under 18 years old.
Based on the department's exhaustive investigation, which included the seizure of two of his computers, police said that “there is no reason to believe or evidence to support that Massey had inappropriate contact of any kind with any other youths in the town.”
