Avengers move on in D-II tennis playoffs

The East Greenwich girls tennis team advanced to the Division II semifinals after a 4-0 win over Toll Gate Tuesday.

NORTH KINGSTOWN — The East Greenwich High girls’ tennis team has dominated Division II this season, but the undefeated Avengers brought their dominance to a new level in the Division II quarterfinals against No. 4 Toll Gate Tuesday afternoon.
East Greenwich’s top three singles players and three doubles teams combined to lose just 11 games and No. 4 singles player Katrina Amaral gutted out a tough, two-set match with Toll Gate’s Kayla Lopes as the Avengers earned a 7-0 victory.
