CHARLESTOWN – A 37-year-old Peace Dale resident was stabbed in the chest and seriously injured at the 339th annual Narragansett Indian Pow Wow.
At 10:37 p.m. on Saturday night, Tribal Police contacted the Charlestown Police Department requesting a rescue vehicle for the victim, Andrew Smith, who was stabbed near his heart during an alleged altercation on Tribal Grounds. According to Charlestown Police, Smith was transported to South County Hospital, was stabilized and then transferred to Rhode Island Hospital’s Trauma Center, as the stab wound damaged his left lung.
A suspect has not yet been identified by Narragansett Tribal Police, who are handling the investigation.
