NARRAGANSETT—With International soccer and the World Cup coming to a close earlier in the month, soccer fans laced up their cleats to attend some summer camp soccer during Gareth Elliott’s, “Goal 4 Rams Soccer Camp.”
During the 45-minute lunch period, kids devoured food as fast as they possibly could, before putting a smile on their faces as they headed back out to the soccer field.
The competitive and team-oriented soccer camps were held this past week at Tuckertown Fields, located in South Kingstown. Separated into age groups and different skill-levels, the camp was designed to meet the needs of all soccer campers participating. The two sections included: ages 5-7 and 8-14 year-olds.
In the younger group, several children giggled as they chased each other around the bright green and freshly-cut soccer field grass, kicking soccer balls among newly met friends. Grandparents and parents, watched the campers enjoy themselves as they sat on wooden park benches from afar. Dale and John Volpigno, summer residents of Narragansett, were extremely pleased by the fact that they contacted the town’s recreational department, as the rec center referred them to sign their granddaughter—Giana—up for the early July session.
“We wanted something fun for her to do this summer,” said Dale Volpigno. “She loves soccer and this program has been outstanding...absolutely great,” added the Volpignos.
