KINGSTON-Hot air balloons will light up the sky Friday night with the balloon glow that will kick off the 36th annual South County Hot Air Balloon Festival in Kingston.
This Rhode Island Tradition has been wowing participants for years and after being rated one of Yankee Magazine’s Top 20 Summer Events in Rhode Island it has become more than just hot air balloons.
With different additions to the festival every year even returning participants will have a new experience. This year, attendees will be entertained by Bwana Jim’s Wild Animal Show, The Cannon Lady, musical entertainment by Roomful of Blues, The Flying Wallendas, a State Barbecue Championship, carnival rides, a petting zoo, a car show and fireworks among other things. Popular events such as the balloon glow attract people of all ages making this a family-friendly event.
“There is something for everyone at the festival,” said Chair of the South County Balloon Festival, Sean McIntyre. “On Saturday night we will have a balloon glow where the balloonists use their propane burners to make their balloons ‘glow’ from the inside. This is done right before the fireworks and is always a great event.”
