NARRAGANSETT - An appeal from the owners of Monahan’s Clam Cake Shack and Restaurant, a business owned and operated by a single family for over 50 years, for indoor seating and a license to serve beer and wine brought several groups in opposition to the zoning board meeting Wednesday night, including the DEM, the residents of the Green Hill Condominiums and other neighbors to the restaurant.
The meeting of the zoning board began with a general description of the restaurant and the project that the family was asking for permission to begin work on.
“It’s a seasonal business - March through October,” said Matt Combs, who was representing his family along with his attorney Donald Packer at Wednesday’s meeting. “Right now our menu consists of clam shack affair. Fresh seafood, burgers, sandwiches, fries - anything that we can do fast.”
