JAMESTOWN – In March Cheryl Fernstrom was selected from among 39 applicants to become this island’s town clerk, an honor that comes as no surprise to anyone who had dealings with Cheryl during her long tenure as Exeter’s town clerk.
In a time when age discrimination is all too common, her appointment was an endorsement of experience over youth. The town was willing to pay more for the best.
