PAWTUCKET – In her first try at the Girls Tennis Singles Championship Tournament, North Kingstown’s Hannah reached the quarterfinals and in her second try last season, she reached the semifinals.
The pattern of growth continued last weekend.
Zangari’s play Saturday and Sunday showed why she’s the undisputed No. 2 player in the state and next Sunday, she’s going to give it all she has to unseat defending champion Rebecca Curran of Bay View in the finals of the singles tournament at Slater Park at noon.
“It feels so good,” Zangari said after her 6-3, 6-3 win over La Salle’s Amanda Pitocco gave her the berth to the final. “I was close last year but couldn’t quite make the cut. Now it’s a big relief, I’ll play Rebecca and swing away.”
