WAKEFIELD–The Exeter/West Greenwich fastpitch softball team took all it could handle from a South Kingstown team still searching for its first win of the season on Monday while hanging on for a 10-6 victory in an exciting game at Broad Rock Playfields.
The Scarlet Knights came into Monday night’s contest with a 5-4 record in Division II-South while SK came in 0-10 but a common viewer could have mistaken the game as a clash between top-tier contenders.
Freshman Alexandrea Goodness pitched a complete game for SK, picking up a couple Ks and maneuvering herself out of precarious situations against the middle of EWG’s powerful lineup. Sophomore Danielle David opposed her for EWG, collecting four strikeouts and allowing four runs before being replaced by fellow sophomore Bridges in the fourth.
