COVENTRY— Three students from The Kelly School of Irish Dance are gearing up to travel overseas to compete against multiple countries during the annual World Irish Dance (WIDA) Association world championship.
Meghan Kelly, owner and instructor of the studio, explained that Claire Jalbert, 13, Megan Quirk, 16 and Emily Pietrantozzi, 14, will be competing in the championship on April 19 and 20 in Germany.
“We’re leaving Monday, April 14 because we’re stopping in Dublin, Ireland first so we can go around and give the girls a tour of the area then we’ll be traveling to Germany,” she explained.
Jalbert and Quirk both qualified for the world championship after winning an array of awards during the Southern California Open Feis in October.
Quirk, who competed in seven competitions in California, took home six first place awards, one third place award and came in first overall in her division—under 26.
