SCITUATE—A Coventry man was arrested by Rhode Island State Police following an hours long standoff at a home in Scituate early Monday morning.
Lt. Colonel Michael Winquist of the Rhode Island State Police explained that at 4 p.m. on March 16, Adam Perry, 32, of 447 Read School House Road, Coventry allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home in Warwick after she filed a protective order against him.
“He allegedly pried open the window and reached inside the bedroom where his ex-girlfriend and their child were located,” he said.
Following the incident, his ex-girlfriend contacted Warwick police, who put out a message to all police departments to be on the lookout for Perry.
Winquist said Perry went to his sister’s home, 12 Hope Furnace Road, Scituate, and entered the apartment without her permission.
When his sister realized he was inside her home while she was not there, she contacted police who arrived at the residence.
He said Perry had dead bolted the door and refused to leave the residence; Scituate police formed a perimeter around the property and made numerous attempts to have Perry surrender.
Winquist said the Chief of Scituate Police contacted Rhode Island State Police for assistance.
