SOUTH KINGSTOWN - Last-minute Valentine's Day shoppers at the Wakefield Mall might actually leave with more money than they came in with this year.
On Valentine's Day, scheduled because the mall is expected to be busy, the Rhode Island Treasurer's Office will have a booth set up specifically to help people claim money that is rightfully theirs.
This comes as one leg of the "Smart Money Tour" that General Treasurer Gina Raimondo has been running since July.
"Treasury runs a number of programs that are helpful to Rhode Islanders, but they are only useful if people know about them," said Raimondo. "The Smart Money Tour conveniently brings my office into the community to educate people about how to find their unclaimed property because everyone could use a little extra money.”
