NARRAGANSETT – The Kayak Centre of Rhode Island is suing the town of Narragansett, the town’s finance director, the town council, and Narrow River Kayaks.
In a case filed Tuesday in Washington County Superior Court, the Kayak Centre is claiming that the business was unlawfully deprived a contract to operate a paddle sports concession at the town-owned Middlebridge property.
Robert Corrente, attorney for the Kayak Centre, filed a complaint seeking declaratory judgment on behalf of the Kayak Centre.
In the filing Corrente alleges on behalf of the Kayak Centre that the town, the town’s finance director, and the town council, violated state law and town charter when the council voted 3-1 in October to reject the Kayak Centre’s bid to run a paddle sports business out of the property located at 94 Middlebridge Road.
