EAST GREENWICH — There are people who are giving. There are people who sacrifice their own needs in favor of those who are in need, no matter what the situation is. There are people who take the term ‘selfless’ to a whole new level.
And then there’s Nikki Trupiano.
The East Greenwich teenager, who is a senior at La Salle Academy in Providence, has spent most of her young life being a living saint, of sorts, to her community, especially to those who have special needs. Last year, Trupiano – who works closely with Meeting Street School, the Autism Project and is part of the executive board for La Salle’s Best Buddies program – played a pivotal part in bringing five students from La Salle down to East Greenwich and have them be dates for students with special needs for their prom at East Greenwich High.
