WEST WARWICK--Well into the second day of a boil water advisory for 25,000 households, the Kent County Water Authority had not lifted the ban on the water as of yesterday, when it issued a daily update at 3 p.m.
All consumers of the Kent County Water Authority, as well as residents of Potowomut, save Brookfield Plat in Warwick and Oaklawn in Cranston were told by the KCWA to continue taking precautions when using tap water. Namely, it should be boiled vigorously for one minute prior to use.
Schools in West Warwick, Warwick and East Greenwich were open for classes yesterday, and while water fountains in West Warwick were covered up and sings telling students not to drink the water were visible, it did not appear that the situation would be cause for the cancellation of school today, either.
The KCWA reported a contaminated sample from a storage tank in Providence. Three clean samples must be tested before the ban can be rescinded.
