At the beginning of Monday’s meeting, Charleston Town Council President Thomas Gentz said that “negotiations are continuing” regarding the town’s possible purchase of the proposed Whalerock wind turbine site.
Listed as new business, the agenda item read, “Discussion and potential action regarding the method of funding and authorization of the town clerk and board of canvassers to hold a special referendum for the potential land acquisition of AP 17 Lot 186 for an amount not to exceed $2.7 million.”
However, because the parties are in the negotiation process, Gentz said there would be no discussion.
“That motion will not be brought up tonight, so that’s where we are are. That will be on a future agenda as time goes on,” said Gentz.
A continuation of the public hearing before the Charlestown Zoning Board on Whalerock's request to erect two wind turbines in the town will be held Wednesday, July 17, at 6:30 p.m. at Charlestown Elementary School.
