The Coventry Town Council will hold a special meeting Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in the council chambers.
The meeting was announced Monday night during the open sesion of the council.
The purpose of the meeting is to approve a loan to the Special Master of the Central Coventry Fire District for the purpose of extending the time it has to operate in order to alow sufficent opportunity for a plan to protect the citizens of the CCFD.
Since the budget was voted down in March and Kent County Superior Court Judge Brain Stern ordered the district to liquidate unless another plan could be found, fire chiefs, members of the legislature, and town officials have been working around the clock to come up with an alternative.
The CCFD is scheduled to close Thursday, April 11 at 11:59 p.m.
