NARRAGANSETT - Restaurant Week in Narragansett is always a treat for the locals and the 2013 version is no exception. Presented by the Narragansett Chamber of Commerce, this year’s event runs through Sunday, March 10, and features specially priced three course menus from 28 South County restaurants.
The basic concept? Generate business during the late winter duldrums while giving local residents a chance to sample the area’s finest cuisine.
“So far it’s been great,” said Francesca Sarantapoulas, co-owner of Amalfi in Narragansett. “The kick off party at the Towers last week was packed.”
On Monday during an interview with The Narragansett Times, Sarantapoulas announced that Amalfi will be changing it’s name to Oceanside at the Pier. She said that the menu will remain the same and the restaurant will continue to be open seven days a week.
During Restaurant Week, the restaurant offers a three course meal with choice of appetizer, salad and main course served for $19.95 per person.
An example of a specially priced, mouth watering meal would be the crab, shrimp and lobster fritters served with a cup of New England chowder for starters, followed by a Ceasar salad and a main course of grilled Atlantic salmon served with spinach risotto and lemon thyme dressing.
Sarantapoulas, a local resident who took over the the restaurant with Gina Musto last June, said that consistency is key to giving customers a positive dining experience.
“We want people to know that we are open year round, seven days a week with a full menu being served until 10 p.m. and a late night menu until midnight,” she said, adding that while the name has changed, the food and amazing view at Oceanside has not.
