A new year is bringing new businesses into West Warwick and with that, hopes of a revived economy.
Town Planner and Economic Development Coordinator Fred Presley is very pleased to see new business in the area and wants it to keep coming.
“Now that the strategy plan is completed for the Arctic Village Redevelopment, the next step is to do more legal work,” he said. “There is some language that needs to be addressed.”
Presley said within the plan, everything that is a part of the redevelopment plan must be listed with no ambiguity, including what parcels of land will be used. Part of his job is to look at how those requirements will be satisfied.
According to the Arctic Village Redevelopment Strategy prepared by the Cecil Group last July, the redeveloping area includes a section of Providence Street, down Main Street to Legris Avenue and Legion Way to the Pawtuxet River, where more access to the bike path and river way can be utilized.
One of the new businesses will include Ethide Labs, a company that tests medical devices. They will be moving from 91 Hill Farm Rd. in Coventry to 1300 Main Street, located between Grove Street and Legion Way.
