PROVIDENCE – Four North Kingstown boys track team members put themselves in the school record books last Saturday.
Competing in the Fourth Annual Rhode Island Classic at the Providence Career and Technical Academy, the Skippers’ 4x800 relay team of juniors Zach Emrich, Dallin Smith and sophomore Ian Connors finished in 8 minutes, 13.49 seconds, beating the team from Massepequa (Mass.) by nearly 10 seconds.
Stewart ran the first leg, followed by Smith and Connors with Emrich anchoring the team.
According to NK coach Charlie Breagy, the old school record was 8:15.
North Kingstown (4-0 Southern Division) is back at the PCTA Friday when it takes on Coventry and Prout at 7:30 p.m.
