PROVIDENCE— North Kingstown resident Frank Mattos may have only founded his Massachusetts-based company Platinum Fire Protection & Services, LLC with co-owner Rob Pereira in 2010 but, already, his company has made waves in Rhode Island’s hospitality industry.
And now he has the hardware to prove it.
In the Rhode Island Hospitality Association’s (RIHA) annual Stars of the Industry meeting and awards dinner, Platinum Fire Protection took home the prestigious Vendor of the Year award and, according to Mattos, it speaks volumes about the reputation his still-young company has been able to build over the past two years.
“We were awarded this recognition for the level of support we make in the organizations we belong to and our commitment to affording exemplarily fire protection and life safety services to the hospitality community in RI, MA and NH,” Mattos said this week.
The Vendor of the Year award, according to the RIHA, is “given to vendors that are respected as outstanding members of the hospitality industry who have demonstrated high professionalism in their jobs and have contributed to the positive image of the hospitality and tourism industry in Rhode Island.”
In a press release announcing the news, Mattos, owner and president of Platinum Fire, said his company was thrilled with the news.
“We are pleased and honored to receive this award,” Mattos said. “This award reflects the hard work of all the employees at Platinum Fire and the great relationship we have with the hospitality and tourism industry in Rhode Island. We promise to continue to provide the best in fire protection services in the years to come for our highly valued customers.”
The award was presented on November 28 in a special industry ceremony attended by more than 500 guests at the Rhode Island Convention Center which, according to the RIHA, “recognizes the best employers or employees in the restaurants, hotels, tourist agencies, and other members or businesses connected with the hospitality community.”
Award winners were selected by a public vote and by members of the RIHA after being nominated by their bosses, co-workers and customers.
Platinum Fire Protection is based out of Westport and Marlborough, Mass but caters to customers throughout the region while providing National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) testing and maintenance of all types of fire sprinkler systems. The company has 68 employees.
Mattos, meanwhile, is a nine-year resident of North Kingstown who attended Southeastern Ma Univeristy in North Dartmouth, Ma. He is married and has four children and is a member of the Our Lady Of Grace parish and well as the Quidnesset Country Club and Aurora Civic Association.
