The East Greenwich football team advanced to Sunday's Division III Super Bowl with a 25-13 win in the D-III semifinals over Moses Brown while Narragansett lost in the other D-III semi to Middletown, 35-14.
Andrew Miner threw three touchdown passes in the win, two in the second quarter that put the Avengers up 19-7 at the break. His third came in the fourth on a 12-completion to Alex Cleary, who had two touchdowns in the game.
Narragansett was overpowered by Middletown's rushing attack and was down 21-0 at halftime. The Islanders led 35-0 after three quarters but the Mariners managed two fourth-quarter touchdowns, one by Jimmy Kershaw and the other by Deontae Stanley.
East Greenwich, the No. 2 seed in Division III and the No. 11 ranked team in the state, plays No. 1 seed Middletown - which is ranked sixth in the state - Sunday at 3 p.m. at East Greenwich High School.
