An explosion of color – burgundy foliage, umber seed pods, the contrast of emerald ferns – heralds the arrival of autumn in Exeter. A rustic, mossy stone wall against a stand of evergreens provides a dramatic background for Breakheart Pond in the Arcadia Management Area. The subtle changing of foliage signals the start of leaf-peeping season in New England.
