EDITOR'S NOTE-> The following is a letter to the editor submitted to the Standard-Times for publication in the September 6 issue. Unfortunately, because of a lack of space, not all letters submitted were printed.
To the Editor:
It has been an honor to serve in the General Assembly as your State Representative from North Kingstown District 32.
I originally ran for office because our state was headed towards wasting hundreds of millions of dollars on a container port that no shipping company was interested in paying for or using. My research and arguments were instrumental in convincing the Governor and legislative leaders to abandon the idea and pursue the more prosperous success story that is Quonset today.
Since then, I have established a reputation for speaking out against fraud, waste, and a long series of bad ideas. When I saw a good idea, I supported that with even greater energy.
The stream of testimonials from people who follow the legislative process is clear. A reporter [from the state’s largest daily newspaper] who covers the State House recently described me as the one “with the reputation for doing his homework before speaking on the House floor.”
Garry Sasse, the highly respected former Director of RIPEC, wrote: “Larry Ehrhardt has been in that group of principled legislators who can be counted upon to ask the right questions and make decisions based on the evidence presented and a rigorous analysis of the facts.”
It’s all on tape and printed in the records – no politics as usual, no pixie dust, and no masterful marketing from secret handlers.

Ever since I graduated from college and volunteered for service in the U.S. Navy, my mantra has been “Duty, Honor, Country.” I am prepared to continue working on your behalf and humbly ask you to honor me with your vote in the Republican Primary on September 11.
