Rhode Island State Police Superintendent Col. Steven G. O’Donnell has announced the arrest of a North Kingstown woman on three counts of larceny of $500 and two counts of uttering forged documents after she allegedly stole from the personal and business accounts of the late former governor Bruce Sundlun and his wife, Susan G. “Soozie” Sundlun.
On July 19, members of the Financial Crimes Unit arrested Teresa A. Roby, 37, of 775 Old Baptist Road, NK after an investigation stemming from a complaint filed by Mrs. Sundlun, owner of East Greenwich Photo.
State police allege that between November 2010 and August 2011, Roby – who was the Sundluns’ bookkeeper – used Mrs. Sundlun’s debit card and wrote checks on her account for personal expenses without authorization; forged Susan and Bruce Sundlun's names on checks to deposit in her personal account; deposited Mrs. Sundlun's unendorsed paychecks in her own account; charged her Verizon cable television, internet and phone bill to East Greenwich Photo Inc.; and charged her children's martial arts lessons to Bruce Sundlun's credit card.
Roby is alleged to have fraudulently obtained $21,386. She was processed at the Wickford Barracks, arraigned by a justice of the peace and released on $10,000 personal recognizance.
