Town reaches one-year deal with new insurance carrier

EAST GREENWICH — No reptiles or aquatic waterfowl were involved in the following municipal property, casualty and liability insurance primer.

With only days to spare before its prior insurance contract expired, the Town Council voted unanimously Thursday night to enter into a one-year agreement with Hub International , an insurance broker, to be its property, casualty and liability carrier.

The council made the decision after hearing presentations by representatives of Hub and Rhode Island Interlocal Trust, the two finalists among four bidders brought before the council by consultant Ron Joseph, a local resident and former Zoning Board of Review member, of insurance broker Starkweather & Shepley.
