A relative status quo in state Senate redistricting is fine by East Greenwich officials.
Sen. Dawson Hodgson (R-Dist. 35, North Kingstown, East Greenwich) will take it, too, considering the alternatives he faced. Still, the first-term senator will have plenty of new voters to introduce himself to if he hopes to win re-election.
The state Senate map proposed by the Rhode Island Reapportionment Commission for adoption by the General Assembly early in its 2012 session, which started Tuesday, creates a minimum of change for East Greenwich, leaving it served by two senators, as is the case with the current district. The state is required to reapportion its General Assembly and Congressional districts every 10 years.
