WEST WARWICK --- The Rhode Island Blood Center will be hosting its first annual Holiday Mall from Dec. 19-23 to give people the chance to donate blood and support local vendors throughout the state.
Blood Center Communications Manager Frank Prosnitz explained that the staff is always thinking of new and different events to host that will bring in people to the center.
He said that these events are intended to make the donation experience as pleasant as possible.
“The biggest reason you donate is to help somebody,” he said. “People get distracted around this time of year and we try to do certain things that may draw more attention to the need for blood donations.”
Since the holiday is quickly approaching, Prosnitz explained that people can finish some last minute shopping, get introduced to some local craftsmen and at the same time “give the gift of life.”
He explained that all the vendors in the Holiday Mall who will be selling their items are volunteers and this gives them the opportunity to reach out to a large audience.
The Holiday Mall, located at the Blood Center’s Providence Donor Center at 405 Promenade St., Providence, will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.
