WEST WARWICK—The deadline for roadwork at the intersection of Route 3 and Main Street is approaching, according to the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT).
Bryan Lucier, spokesperson for RIDOT, stated that crews have been replacing a broken drainage pipe. Once completed, they will resurface the road.
“They will need to grind down part of the road and put the new riding surface on top of that,” said Lucier.
The work should be complete by the first week of December, according to Lucier. Afterwards, he expects that the turning lane onto Route 3 will open up, in addition to the lane for East Greenwich Avenue and Main Street.
Filomena Gustafson is the West Warwick Town Council Member for Ward 4 where the intersection is located.
Referring to the traffic congestion, “I stopped over there and saw it—it’s really bad,” said Gustafson at the town council meeting. “They have their hands full fixing that.”
