EAST GREENWICH - The Planning Board was hoping to see and hear a little more about Flood Auto Group's plan to build a tire and oil change facility at the northeast corner of South County Trail and Frenchtown Road, across from its auto dealership.
Mike Flood, its president, promised the board they would soon.
Attributing his failure to appear at last Wednesday's pre-application meeting, a process which allows petitioners to preview their developments for the Planning Board and receive feedback with no formal vote taken, to a scheduling mistake on his part, Flood promised to appear at subsequent Planning Board and Zoning Board of Review meetings.
Flood was represented at the meeting by engineers Emanuel Pacheco and Ken Roderick of Geyser Engineering, who said they were not prepared to answer all of the board's questions due to recent staff changes at the firm which left them with the project.
The lack of input and information, along with a sign on the 1.5-acre lot advertising the proposed Quick Lane Tire and Auto Center as “Coming Soon.” left several Planning Board members cold.
“I'm a little concerned about somebody putting up a sign that says 'Coming Soon' when it hasn't even gone before the Planning Board,” said Bradford Bishop, board chairman.
“That's nobody fault but my own,” said an apologetic Flood after hearing of board members' reaction, adding that he had done some preliminary consultation with town officials before posting the sign. “It rubbed somebody the wrong way, but it wasn't intentional.”
