CHARLESTOWN -- Frosty Drew Nature Center & Observatory is accepting enrollment in its Nature Weeks summer programs in Ninigret Park. Limited space is available in most weeks.
Nature Weeks are for children from 4 to 13 years old. Nature Weeks run from July 5 through Aug. 18. Days run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and extended day is available every day until 5 p.m. Each program is an exciting exploration of the natural world around us and the heavens above. Fees for the programs—which have been offered for 28 years—are kept as low as possible because the mission of Frosty Drew, a nonprofit educational institution, is education.
Kiddie and Adventurer Nature Weeks explore a different theme each day. Children seine for the denizens of Ninigret Pond; discover bugs, birds, plants in the Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge; learn about comets; and more. Explorer Nature weeks are for older children and explore topics such as rockets, space, orienteering, wilderness survival, and more. One parent of a participant in a Frosty Drew program recently reported that her child said she had experienced "a memory of a lifetime."
