CHARLESTOWN -- The Charlestown Land Trust invites you to a tour of the town-owned 118-acre South Farm Preserve this Friday from 10 a.m. to noon.
The parcel is made up of woodlands and two agricultural fields, and includes the restored Horstmeyer Sheep Barn built in the 1800’s, a historical cemetery and about 2.5 miles of field and woodland trails.
This farm was purchased in 2002 by the town with a grant written by Charlestown Citizens Alliance member Cliff Vanover. Through his efforts, the generosity of the Pirhonen and Horstmeyer families, and the work of the Conservation Commission, the natural and cultural history of this farm is preserved.
