EXETER – It appears in the middle of a dark night, on a road in the far western reaches of Exeter, a shining beacon like any lighthouse showing the way home.
The fact that it is illuminated like Fenway Park and has, out front, a Las Vegas-like chasing-light arrow – blinding around a marquee to showcase the daily special – doesn’t hurt, either.
Located on Nooseneck Hill Road, this refuge for the cold, hungry and those who are simply in need of a hot cup o’ joe and a friendly chat with a pretty waitress is The Middle of Nowhere Diner. It is a bastion of good food and cheer, a reminder that all is right with the world if you can tuck into a huge order of ham and eggs or, on Friday, the perfectly finessed fish-and-chips.
