Community comes together to 'hope for a cure'

CHARLESTOWN – It's truly a testament to the fundamental definition of “community” when so many people come together for a common cause. And there are few greater examples than what occurred at the Cove Restaurant in a little more than a month's time.

Upon learning that Cove owner Robin Justice, who was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a bone cancer, in November 2009, was sick, members of the community came together to help any way that they could. That is where the ongoing “Hope for a Cure” fund-raiser was born, Justice's daughter, Marisa Mara, explained.

The campaign began Oct. 8 in honor of her mother and it kicked off with the restaurant staff making “hope” bracelets and T-shirts to sell for $15. People could also donate as much as they want and create a paper ribbon of hope, which includes a personal message and/or their name.
