PAWTUCKET â In her first try at the Girls Tennis Singles Championship Tournament, North Kingstownâs Hannah reached the quarterfinals and in her second try last season, she reached the semifinals.
The pattern of growth continued last weekend.
Zangariâs play Saturday and Sunday showed why sheâs the undisputed No. 2 player in the state and next Sunday, sheâs going to give it all she has to unseat defending champion Rebecca Curran of Bay View in the finals of the singles tournament at Slater Park at noon.
âIt feels so good,â Zangari said after her 6-3, 6-3 win over La Salleâs Amanda Pitocco gave her the berth to the final. âI was close last year but couldnât quite make the cut. Now itâs a big relief, Iâll play Rebecca and swing away.â
