PAWTUCKET â€“ In her first try at the Girls Tennis Singles Championship Tournament, North Kingstownâ€™s Hannah reached the quarterfinals and in her second try last season, she reached the semifinals.
The pattern of growth continued last weekend.
Zangariâ€™s play Saturday and Sunday showed why sheâ€™s the undisputed No. 2 player in the state and next Sunday, sheâ€™s going to give it all she has to unseat defending champion Rebecca Curran of Bay View in the finals of the singles tournament at Slater Park at noon.
â€śIt feels so good,â€ť Zangari said after her 6-3, 6-3 win over La Salleâ€™s Amanda Pitocco gave her the berth to the final. â€śI was close last year but couldnâ€™t quite make the cut. Now itâ€™s a big relief, Iâ€™ll play Rebecca and swing away.â€ť
