WEST WARWICK — A pro BMX rider and X Games gold medalist, Kevin Robinson is bringing his passion to town to show the young crowd they can do anything they set their minds to and providing them a safe place to do it.

Still in the middle of construction with inches of saw dust on the floors in some spots, crews were hard at work cutting and piecing to together the ramps for BMX bikes, skateboards, scooters and in-line skates at his new skate park called Impact, located at 2 Szydlo Dr. (within the industrial park next to Cardi’s Furniture).

Robinson said construction on the 20,000-square-foot building began two weeks ago and his plan is to have it ready to go in another two weeks.

Robinson, now 42, has been riding since he was a child and said it was just a part of him all his life.

“From the moment I learned how to ride a bike, I’ve loved it because it was me being in control of a machine and I could make it do what I wanted,” he said. “I tried other sports but they weren’t for me and being on a bike, I only had myself to answer to if I failed.”
