WEST WARWICK — A Warwick based organization was able to fulfill seven-year-old Cole Grace’s wish last weekend with the help of many selfless people.
A Wish Come True, Inc., established in 1982, is an organization that grants wishes to children who have life threatening illnesses.
Cole, a third grader at Greenbush Elementary School, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer in January.
Having undergone two surgeries and constant treatment, Cole continues to fight hard against the disease.
Director of Program Services for A Wish Come True, Beverly Molles explained that children are often referred to the organization by social workers, nurse practitioners and doctors.
Sometimes family members, relatives, or friends refer the children as well.
“Once they are referred to us I have to get in touch with the child’s physician and the doctor decides if the child meets our criteria,” she said.
Cole, who met the unfortunate criteria of having a life threatening illness, told the organization that his wish was to have an above ground pool installed at his house.
Molles said a fellow board member, Jim Tucker of Coventry, used his connections to gather volunteers, all carpenters, to help build the deck attached to the pool for Cole.
