Wilsons appeals to community for help

July 24, 2014

NORTH KINGSTOWN—Wilson’s of Wickford has long been a destination for many residents looking to buy the newest piece of clothing or accessory, focusing on American-made clothing since 1944. Now, owner James Wilson has started a fundraising campaign in order for the business stay alive.
“We know the tough, economic times that we’ve all faced,” said Wilson in his campaign message. “One of the hardest hit areas has been retail businesses, and especially independently-owned stores like Wilson’s of Wickford.”
“In addition, many of you are familiar with the battle with the bank, which has literally cost the family hundreds of thousands of dollars,” he continued. “We have downsized, kept up with both economic and apparel trends, and persevered. We are no longer in a position to do this alone and need your help.”
