NORTH KINGSTOWN â Students at the Suzanne M. Henseler Quidnessett Elementary School have been treated all week to special guest readers as part of Reading Week.
The week began with Gov. Lincoln Chafee reading to the kindergarten students and Attorney General Peter Kil-martin reading to the fifth graders. The Governor read Ducks Donât Wear Socks, by John Nedwidek.
Kilmartin read Pinduli, by Janell Cannon. Kilmartin chose the book because the dog on the cover reminded him of his Yorkshire Terrier, Molly. It was also appropriate that he read at Henseler Quidnessett, because Suzanne was a close friend of his and they both served together in the Rhode Island House of Representatives for over 12 years.
âShe loved kids and being a North Kingstown resident, she always made sure you had a good and safe town to live and be educated,â he said.
Other readers throughout the week include athletes from the University of Rhode Island womenâs volleyball, football and basketball teams; Ned Draper and Rachel Santa from the North Kingstown School Department; the Cardi brothers: Nick, Ron and Pete Cardi; North Kingstown School Committee members Lynda Avanzato, Kimber-ly Page and Melvoid Benson; North Kingstown Town Council member Charlie Stamm; Rep. Doreen Costa; Assis-tant Superintendent Dr. Philip Auger; North Kingstown Police Officer Holly Cole; Forest Park Principal Wendy Amelotte and Channel 12 personality Mike Montecalvo.
