Surveillance photos and Narragansett police file photos, above, were used to identify 36 year-old Patrick S. Johnson as a suspect in the Wednesday afternoon robbery of Washington Trust Company bank in Narragansett.

NARRAGANSETT—Narragansett Police Department responded to a robbery of the Washington Trust Company bank at 885 Boston Neck Road. The incident occurred at approximately 12:15 p.m.

The suspect walked into the bank and approached the bank teller with a note in his hand demanding money. He left with an unknown amount of money and officers have not determined from the bank’s video that the suspect was armed.

The suspect was described as a white male approximately 6’1” tall. He was wearing a bright yellow hat reading ‘Block Island” on the front and a yellow rain coat. The suspect was also wearing a grey sweatshirt underneath. He was described as having dark hair and was mildly unshaven.
A search in conjunction with officers from South Kingstown and North Kingstown on Wednesday did not produce any arrest of the suspect.

Narragansett Police identified the suspect early yesterday morning as 36 year-old Patrick S. Johnson. He was last seen in the Warwick area around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the same day as the robbery. He has a prior arrest record stemming from incidents in Narragansett and Newport.

Neighboring business owners were not aware that any bank robbery had taken place. The bank has been temporarily closed for the day.
