NORTH SCITUATE—Because the Chariho boys cross country team had already qualified for the state meet by virtue of their 8-1 regular season record in the Southern Division, the Chargers felt no pressure to do well heading into last weekend’s Class Championships. After seeing the results, however, there is no denying that if Chariho is to accomplish their ultimate goal, and reach New Englands, pressure is exactly what they’ll be feeling when they line up at states on Sunday afternoon. Chariho finished seventh in a stacked and deep Class A Saturday, and that result does not bode well for the Chargers’ hopes of cracking the top-six at states. Chariho was led by sophomore Dan Kilcoyne and junior Ian LaPlume, who finished 12th and 16th respectively with times just over 17 minutes. After Kilcoyne and LaPlume, however, there was a noticeable drop in boys in Charger green. For more, pick up the 11/5 edition of the Chariho Times
