Avengers put on good showing at Koch Eye

LINCOLN – With a 1-11 record in Division I-South heading into last Monday’s 16th Annual Koch Eye Tournament, any positives from the tournament would be good for the East Greenwich girls volleyball team.
But even a team struggling for success isn’t happy when things don’t go exactly as planned.
East Greenwich qualified for the championship tournament after making it through pool play, but the Avengers were bounced in the first round by eventual runner-up East Providence.
While it was a good showing for EG, coach Theresa Jones – like any good coach - still would have liked a little more.
“We wanted to make it further past the gold round than we did, but we have nothing to lose at this point,” Jones said. “We wanted to come in and do the very best we could. I saw splashes of it.”
